NikkieTutorials Launches Initiative to End Makeup Shaming

By  |  0 Comments

The popular youtube makeup tutorial expert, NikkieTutorials, has launched an initiative to end makeup shaming. In the video, Nikkie leaves one-half of her face totally bare to show exactly how transformative makeup can be, and at the same time, calls out makeup shamers who judge those based on the amount of makeup they wear or how they choose to express themselves with it (not cool.) This video made major headlines and caused Nikkie’s career to skyrocket — and almost overnight, no less.

Since then, Nikkie has continued to make empowering videos that show girls at every age that makeup is meant to be a means of expressing yourself, and that no one should ever shame you for experimenting with beauty. With nearly 7 million subscribers on YouTube and already 7 million on Instagram, it’s clear that Nikkie’s fans are incredibly supportive and thankful for her work. And now it’s getting even better. The makeup maven is taking things one step further by teaming up with MakeupPlus and the Peacemakers Network for a #SHEUnites, which aims to end makeup shaming worldwide.

In the video below, Nikkie goes into detail about the campaign and why she feels so strongly about ending makeup shaming once and for all. She also rocks a full face, complete with a ruby-red power pout, a highlight you could see from miles away, and a razor-sharp cat eye — and then encourages her fans to copy the look. Needless to say, we’re so on-board for this amazing initiative. We’re huge believers that makeup is all about fun and self expression — it’s a way to experiment, find out what you like, and most importantly, figure out what makes you feel like your best self. Watch the full video below to learn more about how you can get involved—we’ll be waiting patiently for the recreations!
